RACHEL K COLLIER POISON

‘Poison’ is another dose of blissed-out electronic pop from multi-talented Welsh producer Rachel K Collier, who has reformed one of her own beats to ensure we drink this new track down in one. The focus zooms in and out on the complex layers of tribal beats and dance-pop synths, which gives ‘Poison’ a liquid texture over which Collier’s beautiful R&B vocal to float over. Despite our watery comparisons, her words won’t wash over you as they get to the heart of a toxic relationship - inspired by the various scenes she’s witnessed at her festival sets. Talking about the process behind this track, Collier says that “I’m really happy with how 'Poison' evolved as a production - the main drum loop is sampled from another one of my beats after I slowed it and pitched it down - I had to make a whole new track with it. It’s such a great tune to play live, especially with my percussionist who absolutely nails the toms. I’ve seen the lyrics behind 'Poison' way too many times in life - it drives me mad when I see someone being fed some charm or bullshit and totally falling for it every time”. ‘Poison’ is the second single from her forthcoming self-produced debut album. - Hannah Thacker
